Professional Moving & Storage Brochure Design Solutions

A Professionally design brochure for your moving and storage business is a powerful offline marketing tool that can help your overall marketing campaign. This brochure is one of the best examples of your companie’s brand and image, as it represents what your business is all about. Because of the power a brochure has it’s important to have a clean well organized brochure that isn’t cluttered with unnecessary graphics, design elements that are used just for design sake.

In brochure design or in any piece graphic design for that matter, the purpose is to visually communicate through images, text and symbols. Through a meticulously place combination of these different elements the goal is to create a composition that effectively communicate, excites, and motivates, the reader. You need to be careful when assembling this composition to ensure you don’t overcrowd your layout and confuse the reader. Here are a few things to consider when designing a brochure for your business.

Keep it simple, designers often want to impress you with what they know and what they can do with their skills, and we often get carried away with a technique, so when reviewing your first draft take a look at it and say can this be simplified any further. It is also common for a client to want as much copy as possible in their brochure, the brochures has hard cost associated with it, so if I am paying for an 8 page brochure I am going to get my moneys worth by cramming as much content into the brochure as I can! Try not to fall into this trap, less is more and keeping it simple will benefit you more in the end.

Establish a grid, a grid is your best friend in a brochure design, columns, gutters, and margins can help you establish a well organized layout, but no guide can be more important than the baseline grid, this is the guide that helps align the spaces between the sentences of your document, the horizontal alignment is one of the most important areas you need to align, keeping this guide on while designing will keep it clean.

It is important to follow the grid through out your brochure but don’t fall into the trap of simply duplicating the single spred 4 times, break up the flow a bit, and think of how you can add variety to the piece without breaking out of the overall form.

The next element to consider when designing and effective marketing brochure for your moving and storage business is the typography and colors used. If you are working with one color to keep the cost down, don’t be bashful with that one color, let it go full page with knocked out text, and or go ahead and add multiple colors, the printing industry has made great strides in technology in the past few years and you can have a full color brochure printed at a low cost, and if you are using full color then don’t be shy with that either. Let color make your brochure really sing.

Next is your typography, try and stay away form funky fonts when designing a brochure, unless that funky font is being used as a secondary graphical element or to evoke a feeling, all copy that must be read should be typeset in a font that is easy to read, combining a serif font with a sans serif fon’t is a great way to add visual color to your typography, but stay away from fonts that look similar, if you are going to combine differnet fonts, dont combine a serrif with a serrif and make sure they have contrast in their shape and form.

Lastly images, use images in a bold way, let them be big and tell your story, try and pick photos of shiny happy people and look for images of people looking at you, people connect with other people so show their face and let their eyes subliminally draw your reader in.

Brochures can do a lot for your business, they are great in digital format as well being once they are design they can be downloaded from your website or emailed to clients as additional information, and printed brochures will leave a positive impact on your prospects, ensuring your company gives a solid impression. If you keep these few things in mind when designing your brochure your will be sure to get the kind of success you are hoping for, and will get the most out of your investment.
