Are you attending any trade shows this year?
If you are then you should be prepared, even if you are planning on visiting the show as a spectator, you should have some printed materials on hand. But if you are planning on exhibiting, then for sure you need to get your printed collateral ready.
Effective print collateral can take time to get right, this form of marketing isn’t as convenient as a website design, you can just go in a fix a typo, or rewrite some copy, once it is printed its printed, leaving you with the cost of either reprinting or just dealing with what you have.
Take your time when writing the copy, do the research and do multiple drafts with breaks in between each draft. It’s a good idea to let a week or so pass between reading each draft so you can get a fresh perspective on your message, Also share you copy with friends to see their feedback.
In addition to getting your copy right, you will have to get great looking photos for the piece, if you want to show your new fleet of trucks, and or if your team has grown and you want a new staff photo, or if you have a new storage space you want to showcase, you will need plan on doing a photo shoot, (which can take a significant amount of time to co ordinate)
Then when you have your images and content in place, you want to make sure the design of the print collateral relates to other marketing material, does it work well with your website and email branding.
Once the designs is all worked out, have it proof read, designers can’t be responsible for typos they usually are concerned with technical issues regarding the design and printing of the brochure, so please double check for spelling errors, there is nothing worse for your first impression than giving someone a piece that has a typo.
Then when all is ready get it printed, which will take time, and the money you could have saved from avoiding rush fees from the printer and or overnight deliveries in shipping can drive cost beyond what you want for your businesses balance sheet.
The sooner you can get started with putting together a print collateral campaign fro trade shows the better, don’t let these critical opportunities for success pass you by or cost you more money than it should.
Here are a few things to consider when putting together a tradeshow print collateral package.
Signage sign-age can range from a fully custom 10 x 10 tradeshow booth that could go as high as $50,000 to produce, or the signage can be as low as a simple tabletop that sits on top of a 4×8 table, no matter the budget you can have a professionally designed booth that can help give a positive impression. The most typical form of a booth advertising is a 8 x 10 pop up booth, these are great because once you purchase the frame you can swap out the graphic each year or for specific tradeshows.
Brochures, the same can be said to the brochure you can spend up to $50,000 for museum quality brochure that is sure to knock the socks off your competition, or it can be as simple as a tri-fold brochure, A brochure isn’t going to sell the customer, the salesperson working the floor is going to do that, but the brochure will validate the professionalism of your company, and will hopefully bring that prospect back to your business when they unpack their goodie bag.
Freebies, there is nothing greater than freebies, this is one the primary reasons why spectators will visit your booth, and the most successful giveaways are the ones geared towards kids, no matter how professional your service is. If you give a prospect the coolest silliest toy that they can bring back to their kid at home, and they feel like a super star when their kids loves what they brought for them, you have now made that prospect look good, in addition they will see your logo and call to action every time their kids plays with it. This goes a lot further than a desk coaster.
Of course pens, shirts and hats are all great giveaways.
And lastly I would recommend a “video loop” a video loop is a high-energy motion graphic piece that tells your story and will hopefully pull your prospects in. Tradeshows are interesting you can just be standing there with nothing to do then all of a sudden have thousands of people around, this video loop can hopefully keep a prospect near until you or your sales team can be free to go and do the pitch.
Tradeshows can be a great form of marketing many businesses believe this is the only form of advertising for them, so why not see if it is the form of marketing that will help you go to the next level.
